When you’re a trans woman you are made to walk this very fine line, where if you act feminine you are accused of being a parody and if you act masculine, it is seen as a sign of your true male identity. And if you act sweet and demure, you’re accused of reinforcing patriarchal ideas of female passivity, but if you stand up for your own rights and make your voice heard, then you are dismissed as wielding male privilege and entitlement. We trans women are made to teeter on this tightrope, not because we are transsexuals, but because we are women. This is the same double bind that forces teenage girls to negotiate their way between virgin and whore, that forces female politicians and business women to be aggressive without being seen as a bitch, and to be feminine enough not to emasculate their alpha male colleagues, without being so girly as to undermine their own authority.

Sometimes I think about how Blood Elves survived a zombie apocalypse and sucked the magic out of demons and they’re reduced to “lol gay” because the dudes aren’t giant hulking musclebeasts like the rest of the goddamn world

Hey guys!

metalliccolouredtitan:

It’s that time for commissions. I have three slots open right now, and I really need them.

I have enough money for my surgery in May, thankfully, but I’m taking a week off of work which I’m not sure will be paid. I also have the weekend before off for Comiccon—I’ve already paid the ticket and have worked really hard on my costumes this year, so it’s something that I really need to go to. I would try to work fulltime before then, but I have school all the way up until the end of June and I’ve missed too many classes as-is.

Come this July/August, due to weird moving things I’m not quite sure yet, I’ll be moving back to BC. With all the stuff I have, plus my ratties and scooter, it’s going to be a very expensive move. I’m lucky enough to have BC people visiting me throughout May who will be able to take some of my stuff out and spread out the move, but it’s still going to be a matter of me paying for a lot of it.

Also, during the past two weeks I’ve spent over $1000 in vet bills/medications for my cat… $300 of that went to putting her to sleep Good Friday, and I lost my greatest companion. I cannot describe the immensity of the hole in my heart. I hate to reduce her sickness and death to money, but that was a bill that my wallet could not take, and it’s left me precariously on the edge of being able to make my bills this month. This is very problematic as my dad has also elected to stop paying child support to me because of a recent argument over my schooling future.

Please, commission me. I believe my quality of art is good, and my prices fair. I’m willing to do special requests as well—if you have an idea, e-mail me and we can discuss it. I’m more than willing to bargain in special cases.

The money I’ve been making so far in commissions has gone directly into my savings account for the surgery. Now that that’s saved up for, the money will be still going into my savings account so I can move out to Vancouver and hopefully, get a commemorative tattoo for my darling Ebony.

Prices:

  • BUST: LINE-$5, COLOUR-$8. +$2/extra person
  • HALF-BODY: LINE-$10, COLOUR-$18. +$5/extra person
  • FULL-BODY: LINE-$15, COLOUR-$25. +$10/extra person

Please e-mail me at mattstaton@live.com or message me here on Tumblr if you’re interested! If I don’t respond within a day, especially on Tumblr, message me again in case the internet decided to eat it.

Samples of my art/commissions are floating around in my art tag

Please signal boost!

It doesn’t help that lighting makes a huge difference on what skin tone an NPC appears to have. (Or even one’s PC, for that matter.)

No, it doesn’t.

Nice :D I <3 Zash.

Thanks! Me too.  She is one of my favorites.

Wow!

I just think this would be hilarious, playing a Sith Inquisitor who looks like her, considering the storyline.

Skin tone is my biggest problem, but I have had fun trying to recreate NPCs and companions before.

how am I doing so far?
